Heidelberg "Altstadt" Heiliggeistkirche (Holy Spirit/Ghost Church)

  1. Ryan wants to know why it is called the Ghost Church. I told him that it was probably the Holy Ghost Church so then he wants to know why it's called the Holy "Ghost."

  2. Hi... Because "geist" was the German equivalant of "spirit" referencing all of the spirits folks believed were quite present back then. "Geist" became "ghost" in English (don't know the etymology). Today we are trying to teach folks to say Holy Spirit!
